Trump Call Putin- Trump stated on Truth Social that both leaders had invited each other to visit their respective countries. He also mentioned that he would be calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky immediately to update him on their discussion.
The Kremlin confirmed the call, noting that President Putin informed Trump that “peaceful negotiations” to resolve the Ukraine conflict were achievable.
Trump Call Putin– According to AFP, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated in his summary of the call that “President Putin agreed with Trump that a lasting resolution could be achieved through peace negotiations.” He mentioned that the call lasted nearly one and a half hours.
“President Trump advocated for halting hostilities as soon as possible and resolving the issue through peaceful means,” Peskov added.

Trump Call Putin– This conversation marks Moscow’s first confirmation of direct contact between the two leaders since Trump took office last month and comes as the Republican seeks to bring an end to the nearly three-year-long conflict.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting that Putin had even adopted his strong campaign motto, “COMMON SENSE.”
He stated that both leaders agreed on the need to end the war between Russia and Ukraine to prevent further loss of millions of lives—though the figure he cited remains unverified.
“We agreed to work together very closely, including visiting each other’s nations,” Trump said.
Trump Call Putin– He added that they had also decided to have their respective teams begin negotiations immediately, starting with informing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about their discussion—something Trump said he would do right away.
Trump Call Putin– Trump further mentioned that he had appointed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff to lead the negotiations, expressing confidence in their success.
He added that, besides Ukraine, the two leaders also talked about prisoner exchanges, Iran’s nuclear program, and the situation in the Middle East.

On Wednesday, February 12, US President Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, shortly after his 1.5-hour-long discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Just spoke with Donald Trump. It was a long conversation about the prospects of achieving peace, our willingness to cooperate, and our technological capabilities, including drones and other modern manufacturing,” Zelensky said after the call.
“Ukraine desires peace more than anyone else. We are outlining our joint steps with the United States to halt Russian aggression and ensure a stable, lasting peace,” he added.
Trump posted on social media that Zelensky stressed the importance of “peace” during their conversation.
“I just spoke with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine. The discussion went very well. Like President Putin, he wants to achieve PEACE,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He also mentioned that Zelensky would be meeting with US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Munich on Friday.
Munich Security Conference 2025 in Germany
Trump’s discussions with Putin and Zelensky took place just days before the Munich Security Conference in Germany, where the US administration is set to introduce its peace plan for Ukraine.
According to Bloomberg, which cited sources familiar with the matter, the plan is expected to be presented by Trump’s special peace envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.
