
Mahakumbh Stampede- A Large crowd was waiting for Brahma Muhurta, and another crowd came from behind. Due to the unexpected density of devotees on Triveni Ghat (Sangam), people started jumping the barricades which led to stampede and chaos on early Wednesday between 01:00 am to 02:00 am.

This Mahakumbh stampede happened at around 2 o’clock in the night between Tuesday and Wednesday in the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The Mahakumbh stampede occurred when people were waiting for the bath of Mauni Amavasya on the banks of Sangam.
Uttar Pradesh government’s statement has come on MahaKumbh stampede, in which the death toll has been stated as 30 and 60 people are seriously injured. The administration has also told how the stampede happened in Maha Kumbh
DIG and DM of Mahakumbh Held Press Conference:
The Uttar Pradesh government has confirmed the death of 30 people in the Mahakumbh stampede in MahaKumbh Mela after 17 hours. DIG Vaibhav Krishna and DM of Mahakumbh area Vijay Kiran Anand held a press conference on Wednesday, January 29 evening.
DIG Vaibhav Krishna told that 30 devotees have died in the Mahakumbh stampede in the ongoing MahaKumbh in Prayagraj. Out of these, 25 have been identified. According to him, about 60 people have been injured in the stampede.
Helpline number 1920 has been issued for information about the injured.
How did this stampede happen? DIG Vaibhav Krishna has also given information about this.
Vaibhav Krishna told that this stampede happened in Mahakumbh due to breaking of barricading. He said that, on Wednesday, 29 January, devotees were waiting for the Shahi Snan of Mauni Amavasya. Before Brahma Muhurta, a huge crowd gathered on the Akhara Marg between 1 and 2 o’clock in the night. Due to this crowd, the barricading on the other side broke and the crowd climbed on the devotees waiting to take a dip in Brahma Muhurta on the other side.
About 90 people were taken to the hospital through ambulance, but unfortunately 30 of these devotees died. Out of these 30, 25 devotees have been identified and the identification for rest 5 is going on. These include 4 people from Karnataka, 1 from Assam, 1 from Gujarat. 36 devotees are being treated at the local medical college. Now the situation is normal at the moment and Mahakumbh Snan is going smoothly.
DIG Vaibhav Krishna further said:
During the press conference, Vaibhav Krishna also said that there was no VIP protocol at the place where the stampede took place in the Mahakumbh. According to him, there will be no VVIP movement on big Muhurat, festivals for Snan in the Mahakumbh in future as well.
CM Yogi Ordered to Cancel the all VVIP Movement in Mahakumbh till 4th-February:
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered cancellation of all VVIP passes and VVIP movement in the area of Mahakumbh till 4th-February. Area & Path which was dedicated for VVIP movement is now will be used for devotees movements to control the density of devotees on Triveny Ghat and mahakumbh area.
Now keeping in mind the convenience of the devotees, CM Yogi Adityanath requested all the Mahamandaleshwar, saints, Akharas to take a holy bath a little late. The Amrit Snan of the Akharas was completed safely.
The Government Took These Decisions after the Mahakumbh Stampede:
After the stampede in the Mahakumbh, many big decisions were taken regarding the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj on Wednesday. The 8 entry points to Prayagraj – Bhadohi, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Mirzapur border were closed. The entire Mahakumbh area was declared a no-vehicle zone.
All vehicle passes were cancelled. This means that not a single vehicle was running in the Mahakumbh area now. Apart from this, the route was made one-way. Devotees coming from one route are being sent back from the other route after bathing. This arrangement will remain in force in the fair area till February 4.
