According to officials who spoke on condition of anonymity, New Delhi is open to negotiating the gradual removal of certain tariffs imposed on US goods in 2019 in response to trade actions taken during Trump’s first term. While India has already lifted tariffs on eight items, 20 products still face higher duties
India is open to discussing a limited trade deal with the US to resolve market access concerns, officials said, following an unsuccessful attempt at a similar agreement during Trump’s first administration.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Commerce and Industry did not immediately respond to emails seeking further details.

Earlier this week, over 100 Indian citizens were deported, but reports of their mistreatment on a US military aircraft sparked public outrage, prompting senior Indian officials to address the issue.
